Rodney B. Young  III, M.D.

Plastic Surgeon

From an early age, Dr. Young wanted to be a physician.  He chose plastic surgery because it incorporated creativity with science.  He finds his work rewarding because for more than two decades he has witnessed his patients’ change not only physically but also through an increased self-confidence.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Young is an Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina.  He has been on active staff since 1987.  This appointment not only fulfills his desire to teach and to give back to his profession, it also keeps him current in the latest plastic surgery techniques and advances.

Words can’t begin to describe how I feel about Dr. Young and his team. I feel more like family than a patient. After a horrific accident ripping both legs open I thought I would never wear shorts again because of my wounds. Several doctors had counted me out but not my knight and shining armour Dr. Young he had a vision and a plan for my legs.. With his work I cry as I type this I wore my first pair of shorts this summer. With the accident my self esteem had hit rock bottom between my legs and the weight gain in my stomach. Dr. Young fixed my stomach as well and I had no idea he was going to go that far. I have never met a doctor more selfless in my life and his team is the exact same way. I have to that I have totally blessed to my whole Palmetto Plastic Surgery family in my life I don’t know what I would’ve done without them. Dr. Young's staff is caring, professional and courteous

I wanted to do some sculpting and "tweak" a few areas of my body. I chose Dr. Young's practice based on recommendations and reputation. I had the Cool Sculpting procedure on several areas of my body to define them. At 10 weeks, I can see a considerable difference in the treated areas - they are smoother, the skin is tighter and there is less "me" in the affected areas. My waistline has decreased and I've lost eight pounds in the interim as well. Dr. Young's staff is caring, professional and courteous. Even with a non-evasive procedure, his staff has called multiple times to check on my well-being. I will definitely return to Dr. Young's office and am happy to make recommendations to my friends!


The procedure was easy and painless

I underwent the new CoolSculpting procedure. I had a 3-hour treatment. The staff was wonderful. The procedure was easy and painless. It's been about 3 weeks since my treatment and I can already see significant tightening of the treated area. I will definitely be back for other services.
